Stefan Mackey
Stefan Mackey lives in New York City working at the Art Students League under the tutelage of unfortunately now deceased, but still very much renowned artists Frank Mason and formerly Robert Beverly Hale, Isaac Soyer, and David Leffel.
Originally from Lansing, Michigan, Stefan paints en plein air landscapes, portraits from live models, and still life's. His on-going quest to paint and draw like the Old Masters incorporates extensive research into composition and design, anatomy, color theory, drawing, dynamic symmetry, the natural sciences, and the classic materials and techniques.
In addition to painting and drawing classes at The League, he studies landscape painting with Frank Mason in the mountains surrounding Stowe, Vermont. Stefan works at his artistic endeavors relentlessly striving for mastery of all aspects required by the various mediums with uncompromising perfectionism. His philosophy is best summed up by his belief that art is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration.
